Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), a major player in the Indian (FMCG industry, has announced Godrej Ezee ‘Rahaat – Ek Abhyaan’ a winter wear donation drive in association with the Rotary International District 3010. This initiative is aimed to help the needy face the cold wave that claims many lives.

Every year thousands of people are badly affected by the cold wave that sweeps the Northern regions, especially in Delhi and NCR. In New Delhi, an estimated 100,000 homeless people are extremely vulnerable. Last year the death toll reached a figure of 205, due to a steep fall in temperature. This was a pressing issue which had to be addressed sooner or later, as with every approaching winter situations seem to worsen and so does the state of the homeless. GCPL along with Rotary have taken a first step towards resolving the problem with initiative.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Adi Godrej, CMD, Godrej Group, said, “We are concerned about the cold wave that claims so many lives every year. The number has been showing an increasing trend and thus we feel the need to curb it. Through Godrej Ezee ‘Rahaat – Ek Abhyaan’ winter wear donation drive we will attempt to reach maximum homeless and needy to provide them with winter wear to fight the severe cold waves. To implement this initiative we have partnered with Rotary, who with their expertise and vast network will ensure maximum reach in and around the vicinity.”

Rtn. Damanjit Singh, District Governor, Rotary International District 3010 said, “We are very happy to lend our support to GCPL for such a noble cause. This was a concern area that was left unaddressed for quite some time. With the support of our 104 centers in and around Delhi and NCR and 4000 Rotarians we will ensure the success of this initiative.”

This drive will entail over 50 Rotary collection centers, RWA’s (Resident Welfare Associations) and all Reliance Web World outlets which will be set up across Delhi and NCR. Any individual who wishes to donate their winter wear can do so by either visiting the Rotary centers, the selected RWA’s and the Reliance Web Worlds outlets being constantly announced on RED FM, BIG FM and the newspapers. There will be banners put up near each collection point to facilitate the donor.

In addition, mobile collection centers will be rolled out wherein five vans will map the areas of Delhi and NCR. There will be constant announcements on the citing of the vans as well as the RJ’s visiting these vans to get views of the people on the cause. All the collection centers will act in sync following which the collection winter wear will be personally distributed amongst the homeless and needy.
